Eurovision winner to perform Christmas concert in Carlow
Eimear Quinn will perform at St Mary's this Friday
Eurovision Song Contest winner Eimear Quinn will bring her acclaimed winter concert series to Carlow next month for a festive performance at St. Mary’s Church of Ireland.
The Dublin-born soprano, who won the Eurovision in 1996 with the song “The Voice”, will perform her show ‘Songs of Winter Dreaming’ on Friday, 19 December at 8pm.
Ms Quinn will be accompanied by the Mamisa String Quartet and guitarist Robbie Overson for the evening, which promises a blend of traditional, Celtic and classical sounds alongside seasonal music and contemporary melodies.
The singer, who has released four albums including her most recent work Ériu recorded with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra in 2020, has performed at numerous high-profile venues internationally including the Royal Albert Hall and Sydney State Theatre.
Ms Quinn, a graduate of NUI Maynooth where she studied music, has also performed at significant state occasions, including for Queen Elizabeth II during her State Visit to Ireland in 2011, and at events marking the visit of Pope Francis to Ireland in 2019.
Her composition ‘In Paradisum’ was selected by Classic FM UK listeners for the station’s “Hall of Fame” in 2021, making her one of the few Irish and female composers to feature on the list.
Tickets for the Carlow performance are available now. The historic St. Mary’s Church of Ireland provides an atmospheric setting for the winter concert.ââââââââââââââââ
