Peter Kay gatecrashes live BBC weather report

Comedian Peter Kay gatecrashed a BBC weather report live on air.

Kay, 53, appeared on screen while BBC North West Tonight’s Molly Brewer was presenting her report on Wednesday.

Brewer was telling viewers there was a yellow weather warning in force for the following day when Kay walked in front of the camera.

The Phoenix Nights star, who had been a guest on the programme, then took a seat on the floor and said: “Go on Molly, I’ll sit here, I’ll not disturb you.”

Brewer tried to contain her laughter as she carried on with her report.

She also gave Kay her clicker and he changed the graphics on the screen before the end of the report.

With rain forecast for the coming days, the comedian advised viewers to “get your central heating on now”.

It is not the first time Kay has interrupted a weather report.

He crawled on screen while the late Dianne Oxberry was presenting the forecast for BBC North West Tonight in 2011.

Oxberry joked at the time she would “come to one of your concerts and come on stage and just creep in alongside you”.

Kay has spent the last four years on a record-breaking arena tour, which is due to end in November at Blackpool’s Opera House.

All the proceeds from his 2026 shows will be donated to 12 cancer charities, including Children With Cancer UK, Teenage Cancer Trust, Kidney Cancer UK, Prostate Cancer UK, and Ovarian Cancer Action.

The Bolton-born comedian kicked off his national tour in December 2022 in Manchester, marking the end of a 12-year break from touring and setting the record for the only comedian in the world to have performed a monthly residency at London’s O2 arena.
