Carlow to welcome European guests for Entente Florale Europe

CARLOW County Council will welcome delegates and representatives from across Europe as host of Entente Florale Europe 2026, taking place on this coming weekend, on 18 and 19 September. Carlow's selection as host follows its outstanding success in the competition when the town achieved a prestigious gold medal in 2024 and a president’s rize for the development of rain gardens. The two accolades earned the council international recognition for its commitment to sustainability, biodiversity and environmental excellence.
Entente Florale Europe is an international competition that celebrates communities that excel in enhancing their environments through sustainable development, community participation, horticulture, biodiversity, climate action and quality of life initiatives. The event brings together towns, villages and cities from across Europe to share knowledge, showcase best practice and foster lasting connections between communities.
As host of the 2026 event, Carlow will welcome European delegations, judges, elected members and community representatives for a programme of activities that will highlight the best that the county has to offer.
A key feature of the weekend will be , a free family friendly event for all, that invites residents and visitors alike to experience the spirit of Entente Florale Europe firsthand.
The event will take place on Saturday 19 September from 2pm to 4pm at Carlow College and is free to attend. All are welcome.
