Carlow Senior Hurling Manager Tom Mullaly stepped down last night after five years in charge.

Mullaly’s time in charge will be remembered fondly by Carlow fans as he guided them to a Joe McDonagh Cup win back in 2023, beating Offaly in Croke Park which put Carlow into the Leinster Championship in 2024.

He also helped Carlow into Division 1B of the National Hurling League where they managed to stay up this year.

In a statement released on social media, the county board thanked Mullaly for his efforts in progressing Hurling in Carlow and said they would move swiftly to replace him ahead of the new intercounty season in 2026:

“Carlow GAA would like to thank Tom for his thoroughly professional approach and his role in our hurling development over the past five years.

"We wish Tom every health and happiness for the future.

"Carlow GAA will now move swiftly to appoint a new Senior Hurling Manager for 2026.”
