Bagenalstown AFC have realeased a statement to announce the launch of a new smartphone app aimed at players and supporters of the club:
Bagenalstown AFC is delighted to announce the launch of a brand-new smartphone app developed to improve how the club communicates and engages with the local supporter base. The app is designed for all age groups, from young players to their grandparents, and there are many features to keep the app interesting and engaging throughout the season.
Introducing the Bagenalstown AFC App:
The mission statement for the club’s app strategy is to introduce a new way to engage with our local audience in a safe, secure and interactive environment. There is a variety of regularly updated content on the app including full match reports for all our games, player statistics and our innovative “Fantasy Bagenalstown AFC” game. Our fantasy game is similar to the famous Fantasy Premier League game with one huge difference; instead of Salah or Haaland scoring fantasy points, the Fantasy Bagenalstown AFC game comprises our local players! As our players score, you can score Fantasy Bagenalstown AFC points! It is the club’s belief that it is the first soccer club in Ireland to build a fantasy football app in-house that is powered by the performances of local players that feature in our games, from the club’s Under-11s right up to the Senior team.
The first Fantasy Bagenalstown AFC transfer deadline takes place on Saturday September 21st at 11:30am, so make sure to register and enter your team!
1. Unlike other club apps, the Bagenalstown AFC app gives parents, players and all our supporters a good reason to regularly come back to the app throughout the season. The Bagenalstown AFC app is updated after each club game is played and includes a detailed match report and updated player statistics that is available within minutes of the full-time whistle.
2. By publishing ongoing match reports and player statistics, it means the club is empowering club players of all ages and brings news of their performances to a much wider audience. The app also includes a “Bagenalstown AFC Golden Boot” award for the top scorer across all club teams.
3. The Bagenalstown AFC app is free to download from Google Play or the App Store and there are no costs at any stage throughout the user experience, such as in-app purchases. There are no annoying pop-up ads within the app.
4. The app includes push notifications for a variety of focused topics. Parents can get timely updates on their child’s team including a “Live Score” feature that can be used during games. The app is also a great way to promote the club’s lotto and shop websites.
5. The app is fully designed with child welfare in mind. Another innovation was to provide limited-access user accounts to juvenile club players so they can use the app privately, without having to give over any personal details.
6. The app was developed internally between committee members, one of whom is an app developer. There are further plans to expand the app with new features throughout the 2024-2025 season such as including a club podcast. By developing the app in-house, it means that the Bagenalstown AFC app had no overheads at any time.
"We are thrilled to unveil the Bagenalstown AFC App," said Mr. Kieran Lillis, Bagenalstown AFC Club Secretary. "With this app, we aim to empower our supporters and give them access to near real-time club information on our games and players. By reusing our club data for our fantasy football and golden boot competitions, it means we can interact better with our supporters, particularly our younger players who can proudly view their ongoing performances on this innovative platform”.
