St. Leo’s College win at the South Leinster Schools Cross Country Championship

1st Junior Team -  (Laura Ayres, Chelsey Dooley, Orla Kelly, Sienna Murnane, Mia Doody, Holly O’Donoghue)

 The South Leinster cross country championship took place on Thursday 23rd January in Carlow Hurling Club. St. Leo’s athletes garnered quite a haul of medals.

Medal winners included Zoe Dunne who took third place in the minor girls’ race, Laura Ayres won silver in the junior girls’ race while her sister Rachel Ayres also won silver in the senior girls’ race.

The junior girls’ team faced stiff competition and claimed victory in the schools’ competition. They were awarded a perpetual plaque in acknowledgement of their magnificent win. The team included Laura Ayres, Chelsey Dooley, Orla Kelly, Sienna Murnane, Mia Doody, Holly O’Donoghue. All the above athletes will now progress to Leinster Schools Cross Country Championship coming up on the 12th of February in the Phoenix Park, Dublin. The athletes have been coached by Ms. Laura Graham and Ms. Aoife Feehan, and transition year student coach, Hannah Moriarty.
