Kealy jumps to gold with lifetime best leap

Daena Kealy won gold today in the High Jump at the National Track and Field Championships in the Morton Stadium, Santry with a stunning Personal Best leap of 1.85m.
The Borris athlete, who competes for the St Abbans club, won bronze in the competition in 2022 and then silver a year later. She won an indoor title early in 2024 but as she detailed in an interview on www.carlow-natioanlist.ie on Friday, she then endured a nightmare 18 months on the sidelines due to a foot injury.
She returned to action in the last couple of months and has displayed some of her best form. She broke her previous PB with a jump of 1.83m in Bedford, England at the May so was in the form to compete for gold but still needed to produce the performance of her lifetime on the biggest national stage to top the podium.
