There’s a high quality Flat card on at Gowran Park this, with seven races to look forward to; three maidens, two handicaps and a pair of quality Listed races; the Vintage Tipple Stakes and the Victor McCalmont Memorial Stakes.

Read on for preview of and tips for the Gowran Park card, brought to you by BetBrothers.

The action kicks off with a seven-furlong three-year-old’s maiden (5.07). Rory Devine’s Glasarmi is the only newcomer here, while Starred and Bamako Beach bring the best previous form, both having placed second as two-year-olds. The latter seems to be the best of the pair, but is unexposed and wears a hood for the first time here. Shaws Bay should be able to go well also and is fit from a run over course and distance last month.

A mile maiden is next (5.37). Will You Stop and Saliba are the debutants here, both representing good stables, but they look hard pushed to win this. Tony Mullins’ Western Bandit looks handy after a good display at Limerick last time, and has a first-time tongue strap on here. A four-year-old in maiden company, though, he has nearly a stone more to carry than the younger horses. Satoyama can start better this time and be a danger for Joseph O’Brien.

The first of the two Listed races is next; the mile and six-furlong Vintage Tipple Stakes (6.07). Floresta is the top-rated at 101, but others have the advantage of having run already this year. The consistent Moody looks a likely sort, while Dippedinmoonlight could improve for the better ground here and has an each-way chance.

Race four is the next Listed race, run over nine and a half furlongs (6.38). Ger Lyons’ Faiyum really ought to outclass the rest here, topping the ratings by more than 12 pounds. She was a little beneath her best when reappearing at the Curragh over a mile, but is more than entitled to get back to herself here, stepping back up in trip and on much easier ground.

Over the same trip, the fifth race is a fillies’ maiden (7.08). The majority of the nine runners are new starters, so it’s worth looking at the market movement here. Shanala is bred to be high class, while Vaultingly looks useful too. Mathoura could have an each-way chance also, based on her pedigree.

Second to last is a mile apprentice handicap for three-year-olds (7.38). Beau Army looks good, but is probably best on the all-weather. Femme Beauty is topweight but given seven pounds by her rider, so has a nice each-way shout after a good run over course and distance last time. A step up in trip for Honey Dale looks a positive too, who could outrun her odds.

Finally, we conclude with another mile handicap (8.08). Kitty Bear was a winner last time out by an impressive three lengths, and could go well again, while Majestic King was the one to follow her home and looks interesting again. Hell Left Loose also ran well enough in that same race and looks to be down to a workable mark now, ridden by Mel Sheridan once again. Better over a mile than seven furlongs, he could quietly get there, but would likely prefer more give in the ground.
