Padraig Amond has been named in the 2024 PFAI Ireland Men’s Premier Division Team of the Year.

In his first year back in the League of Ireland since a goal laden career in the lower league in England, the 36-year-old has made a huge impact with Waterford.

With two games to go, his 13 goals has him right in the chase for the golden boot, just one goal behind leader Pat Hoban and one ahead of Johnny Kenny, both also named in the team of the year.

Kenny is one of three Shamrock Rovers named on the team, along with Josh Honohan and Dylan Watts. Derry also have three representatives, with Hoban joined by Mark Connolly and Michael Duffy.

Damien Duff’s Shelbourne have two players named in the team with Paddy Barrett and Mark Coyle while the team is completed by Galway Utd goalkeeper Brendan Clarke and Joe Redmond of St Patrick’s Athletic.

The PFAI awards ceremony will be held on 23 November.
