16-year-old Brennan makes senior Waterford FC debut

16-year-old Aaron Brennan made his senior debut for Waterford FC as the in-form Blues beat Sligo Rovers 3-0 in the Club Orange FAI Cup quarter-finals.

The youngster, who played in the Carlow Juvenile League with Crettyard, entered the action when he replaced Padraig Amond in the 84th minute.

Brennan travels to training and matches with Amond so it was fitting that the experienced Waterford skipper, who had opened the scoring, made way for Brennan, who had his family there to help him celebrate.

There was no resting on his laurels as less than 24 hours later, Brennan started for the Waterford U20s and played for just over an hour in a 3-0 win over Kerry.

Peter Grogan scored his second goal in as many weeks as Athlone beat Finn Harps 1-0.

Lauren Dwyer captained Wexford to a 2-0 win over Shamrock Rovers. Ciara Milton came on for the final two minutes for Rovers. Roisin Joyce was on the bench for Wexford. Ciara Kelly was on the bench for Treaty in a 0-0 draw with Galway.

Timmy Adeleye netted his fifth goal in six games for CK United’s U20’s as he scored in a 1-1 draw away to Cobh Ramblers on Saturday. Adeleye, who is part of the CK senior team was allowed to play as one of three underage players allowed to play for the U20’s at any one point. Axel O’Rock came off the bench too.

The CK United seniors were the team left kicking their heels in the five-team group in the FAI National League but they will play their second game in that competition when they make the long trip to Kerry to take on Killarney Celtic on Saturday at 2pm.

CK United’s U17’s girls lost 4-1 away to Kerry. Siobhan Sinnott opened the scoring after ten minutes before Kerry scored four unanswered goals. That was Sinnott’s 11th goal of the season for the U17’s.

Heidi Buggy and Ellie Maher both played in a 4-2 defeat for Wexford’s U17’s girls against Peamount.

CK’s U15’s boys lost 2-1 to Treaty. Danny O’Dwyer scored the only goal of the game for CK.

Emily Kelly came off the bench in a 1-0 defeat for the Shels development team against Dundalk. Roisin Joyce started in a 7-1 win for Wexford’s Development Team against Kerry.

CK United’s women lost 3-1 to Treaty. CK were 3-0 down when Leah Harper got onto the end of a Sinnott ball to pull a goal back with two minutes to go.

Cormac Lowry started in a 3-2 win for Shelbourne U17’s over Dundalk. CK United’s U17’s lost 8-3 to Galway. James Walsh scored two goals whilst Patryk Werra scored one.
