Twenty two teams from all over Co Carlow took part in this year's Allianz Cumann na mBunscol sports quiz in the Seven Oak Hotel, Carlow

SOME of the quickest thinking and smartest brains in the county were in competition in this year’s Allianz Cumann na mBunscol GAA/sports quiz, but only one team could make it to the national final.

Competition was fierce as 22 teams battled it out in the recent quiz, which took place in the Seven Oak Hotel, Carlow, but in the end it was the youngsters from Newtown-Dunleckney NS who took home first prize, closely followed by St Brigid’s NS, Bagenalstown.

Quizmaster John Kelly provided the questions and was delighted with the high standard of answers. Chairman of Cumann na mBunscol Ceatharlach, Hamish Beaton, presented the winners with their medals.

The youngsters on the Newtown-Dunleckney team will represent Carlow in the all-Ireland final in Tullamore in March.
