BEAUTIFUL vintage and classic cars gleamed when a special show took place recently in Rathwood, Tullow.

Over 200 of the most classic and iconic cars (and tractors) were on display when Tullow Vintage Car Club hosted its annual show in the grounds of Rathwood Garden Centre. Organised by Tommy and Marie Cosgrove – chairperson and treasurer, respectively, of the club – the show attracted vintage car owners and admirers from a wide area.

A special cup in memory of one of the members, Henry O’Shea, who passed away in recent years, was presented to Gerry O’Toole. Gerry’s name was pulled out of a hat and he’ll get to keep the perpetual cup for a year before another member gets a chance of winning it next year.

“We have the opinion that everyone’s car is their pride and joy, so who are we to say that one person’s car is better than another’s? So we put everyone’s names into a hat and pull one out – that way everyone has a chance of winning,” reasoned Marie.

The club also made a donation of €500 to a great local cause.

Tullow Vintage Car Club is open to new members, so if you’d like a chance to meet up with other car enthusiasts, contact Marie on 087 7619492.
