Suspected arson at Castledermot home

GARDAÍ have launched an investigation following an incident of criminal damage by fire at a family residence on Main Street, Castledermot, in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Emergency services were alerted to the scene at approximately 2am, where the house was up in flames in the heart of the town.

A local fire crew responded swiftly and successfully extinguished the blaze, however, two people were in the house at the time and were taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Gardaí have confirmed that investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fire are ongoing.
