BORRIS town hall is once again bursting with colour and interest, thanks to the annual photo competition.
“This is the third year of the Borris town hall art competition and, once again, the town hall is the real winner,” enthused organiser Aine O’Shea.

“The local community have provided us with another wonderful 12 photographs to display on the walls and we could not be any happier.” The objective of the competition is to turn an empty space into a home away from home for its users, by making it more welcoming, colourful and engaging. While art has fulfilled that objective in the last two years, this year it was suggested that, to be more inclusive, we should make the competition solely photographs.

“We were delighted with all the entries and our volunteer judges Fr Rory Nolan, Emma Jane Champley, Rachel O’Hara and Seamus Costelloe had a very difficult job,” said Áine.
“Bagenalstown Secretarial Services helped us bring the photos to life by enlarging and printing them for the hall and we now invite the community to come in and see them when they can,” she added.

The photos will also be displayed in a calendar that the committee hopes to have for sale in December, online and in local stores in Borris. It will also be available to purchase at Borris town hall Christmas market in the hall on Saturday 14 December from 10am to 4pm.

“The committee would once again like to thank everyone for their entries and for joining in, we are already looking forward to next year’s competition.”
