Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board (KCETB) held a special event for retired employees to acknowledge their service and thank them for their hard work and dedication in providing education services to the Kilkenny and Carlow region. The event highlighted decades of dedication, leadership and commitment to students, families and communities.
School principals and centre managers shared heart-felt citations outlining some of the outstanding contributions their former colleagues gave to their time in their positions. These carefully prepared citations reflected not only career milestones but also the personal qualities that made each retiree an invaluable member of the school community.
Retiring this year from Carlow were: Bernadette Atkinson, Rita Scully and Margaret Devine from Borris College; Thérèse Just from Carlow Adult Literacy; Joan Dunne from Carlow Institute of Further Education; Máire Lee from Coláiste Aindriú; Anne Reynolds and Sharon Tennyson from Gaelcholáiste Cheatharlach; and from KCETB head office, Eileen Curtis.
Former colleagues were congratulated and presented with a piece of Kilkenny Crystal by KCETB chairperson, cllr Andrea Dalton. KCETB Director of Further Education and Training, Martha Bolger thanked all of the retirees for their dedication and service.
Dr Lindsay Malone, Chief Executive said: “The KCETB retiree recognition event represents a distinguished occasion in which we honour the dedicated service of those who have given their professional lives to the advancement of education, training, and community development across Kilkenny and Carlow. Their steadfast commitment has not only enriched the lives of countless learners but has also strengthened the social and economic fabric of our region. By formally acknowledging the contributions of our retirees, we affirm the enduring value of their work and the profound legacy they leave behind. This event underscores the importance of service, continuity, and community, reminding us that the progress of our region is built upon the vision, dedication, and integrity of those who have gone before. In celebrating their achievements, we pay tribute to a tradition of excellence that continues to inspire future generations and ensures that the mission of KCETB remains deeply rooted in the prosperity and resilience of the region.”
