Man injured in slash hook attack in Co Limerick

Gardaí are investigating a report of a slash hook attack on a man in a Limerick city suburb on Sunday afternoon.
The attack is believed to have occurred at Ballinacurra Weston, the south side of the city, around 1.30 pm.
The injured man was treated for non-life-threatening wounds at University Hospital Limerick.
Another male is suspected of suffering injuries in the alleged attack.
Gardaí responded to reports of an attack, and all parties involved had dispersed when officers arrived on the scene.
Investigating gardai were as yet unclear as to the motive for the alleged attack.
“Gardaí received a report of an incident of alleged assault that occurred in the Hyde Road area of Limerick city on Sunday 26th April 2026 at approximately 1:30 pm,” said a garda spokeswoman.
“A male youth sustained injuries during the incident.”
“Investigations are ongoing,” added the garda spokeswoman.
