Hospital overcrowding: Almost 630 patients on trolleys

628 people are waiting for a bed in hospitals across the country, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO).

398 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 230 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

The hospital with the highest number of patients without a bed is University Hospital Limerick, with 99 people without a bed.

35 people are in the emergency department, with 64 patients elsewhere in the hospital.

At University Hospital Galway, 70 people are on trolleys, with 37 people in the emergency department.

Cork University Hospital has 43 people on trolleys, with 36 patients in the emergency department.
