More tickets for ‘FIRE NIGHT’ go on sale tomorrow

THE next release of tickets for FIRE NIGHT, Carlow’s spectacular Samhain experience, will take place tomorrow afternoon (Thursday), with families encouraged to book quickly to guarantee their place.

More than 1,500 people have already booked places for the event, which takes place on Friday 23 October, and will include outdoor performances on the grounds of Carlow College, St Patrick’s, featuring giant puppetry, aerial acrobatics, dance, fire, an immersive procession and more.

The event is free; however, prebooking is essential, with tickets offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tickets will go live from 4pm tomorrow (Thursday).

At the heart of FIRE NIGHT will be Ephemera, a new outdoor performance from Irish spectacle company VolkiDána.

VolkiDána is a spectacle company founded by spectacle artist and designer Bridget Ní Dhuinn and contemporary circus artist and director Polina Shapkina.

Audiences at FIRE NIGHT will follow the story of an ancient deity awakening for one final journey, surrounded by fire movement, music and larger-than-life characters.

Mayor of Carlow cllr Ken Murnane said FIRE NIGHT is about creating “something special” for families and allowing people to enjoy Carlow in a new way.

“With over 1,500 people already booked, the response has been fantastic. We want people of all ages to come along, wrap up warm and enjoy what promises to be a really memorable night for Carlow,” cllr Murnane said.

Head of economic development and enterprise at Carlow Co Council Kieran Comerford said families getting out to enjoy events such as Fire Night is not only good for the community, but also important for the town centre economy.

“Events like FIRE NIGHT bring people into Carlow, create additional footfall and support our cafés, restaurants, shops and other local businesses. That activity feeds directly into the town centre economy and helps support local jobs. We want people to enjoy a fantastic experience and, while they are here, to make an evening of it in Carlow,” he said.
