Man contesting speed ticket is allowed to inspect camera at Graiguenaspiddoge Carlow

A 28-YEAR-OLD man who is contesting a speed ticket he received from the static camera at Graiguenaspiddoge has been allowed to bring in an engineer to inspect the camera.
Jack Slattery of Quakershill, Killeshin, Co Carlow was issued with a fine after his car was detected driving over the 100 kilometres an hour speed limit on 28 June 2025 by the static camera at Graiguenaspiddoge. Mr Slattery is contesting the fine, and at a previous hearing both Mr Slattery and the state furnished documents which Judge Geraldine Carthy has since reviewed.
Judge Carthy said that in light of case law, she would give the accused the opportunity to inspect the machine in question on three conditions. The first condition is that the inspection is carried out within six weeks from that date, 9 July. The second condition is that a garda is present while the inspection is taking place. The third condition is that the inspection does not interfere with the operation of the machine in question.
Judge Carthy ordered the case to next come before her on 16 September for mention.
