THE ANNUAL festive run organised by Carlow Regional Youth Services (CRYS) was a great success this year, with more than 400 enthusiastic runners taking part. The Jingle Bell Jog is the biggest public event of the year for CRYS and it involves a 5km fun run through Carlow town, beginning at the River Barrow.

Runners of all ages and fitness levels got involved, with many donning their Christmas jumpers or hats. The money raised is going directly back into CRYS to provide vital youth work supports for young people in Carlow.

“We want to thank everyone who turned up on the day – there was a great turnout from families and we loved seeing all the festive outfits. We want to give a huge congratulations to the winners,” said administrator Rebecca Allen.

The winners were: Darragh Lazenby in the under-18 men’s section with a time of 16 minutes and 30 seconds; Mackenzie McIvor, over-18 men (17.6); Sarah Keogh, under-18 women (21.14); and Alex Murphy, over-18 women (17.16).
