Fancy sampling Gaeltacht life without leaving home?

There's something for all age groups this summer
AN IMPRESSIVE programme of events ‘as Gaeilge’ suitable for all age groups will run for summer 2025, thanks to Glór Cheatharlach.
A busy schedule for July will include a Coláiste Samhraidh/Summer College for teenagers, a Campa Samhraidh/Summer Camp for primary school children and Campa nan Óg/Junior Camp for the youngest group of children.
Coláiste Samhraidh offers students from fifth class to third year the opportunity to have a taste of the Gaeltacht experience without leaving home. This intensive Irish course runs for one week from 9.30am to 3pm daily from 30 June to 4 July. The summer college will once again be based in Gaelcholáiste Cheatharlach, where the camp will have use of its fantastic facilities.
Classes will be taught by fully-qualified teachers and the course will be broken into classes based on students’ ages. In addition to daily Irish classes, there will be a variety of fun activities, including debating and singing, sport and games, dance and céilithe all conducted through Irish.
The course fee is €120 and a deposit of €50 is necessary to reserve a place. Registration is filling quickly so anybody interested in taking part is advised to enrol as soon as possible, as numbers are limited.
The always-popular Campa Samhraidh for primary school children will run from 14-17 July. It will be based in Gaelscoil Cheatharlach and will cater for primary school children from first to fifth class (this September) from 10am to 2pm daily.
The fee of €70 will cover all campa activities, including arts and crafts, sports, games, cinema and a day trip. This campa is always fully booked so places should be reserved as soon as possible.
For the youngest children, Campa na nÓg offers the opportunity to take part in a fun mini-campa as Gaeilge. The junior camp is suitable for children who will go into junior and senior infants in September. It will be held from 7-10 July in Glór’s childcare facility in Áras na nÓg, Éire Óg and the €50 fee will also cover a local day trip.
