A CYCLIST who was killed in a collision involving a car near Tinryland on Friday night has been named locally.

Mohsin Hassan, aged in his early 20s, who had been living in Carlow town, died at the scene, following an incident which occurred on the N80 at Kilmeany at around 11pm. 

Gardaí are investigating the collusion which involved a BMW car and said no one else was injured in the accident.

Mohsin’s body was brought to Waterford University Hospital (WUH) where a post-mortem examination took place yesterday, Monday.

The road was closed for several hours on Friday night and Saturday between the Tinryland junction and the M9 for a technical examination.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses about  the accident and ask anyone who was on the road between 10.45pm and 11.10pm on Friday, and who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, to contact them.

Mr Hassan will be brought to Carlow Islamic Cultural Centre (CICC) tomorrow, Tuesday for Janazah and Dhuhr prayers at 2pm. He will be buried in Newcastle Graveyard, Dublin.
