A SINGLE mother who lost her job and couldn’t afford to pay for her insurance was last week spared a disqualification from driving when she appeared before Carlow District Court. Jolanta Ceglowska, Highfield Manor, Graiguecullen pleaded guilty to driving without insurance when she was stopped by gardaí on Athy Road, Carlow on 6 November 2024.

Solicitor Tash Van Eeden told Judge Geraldine Carthy that Ms Ceglowska (41) had lost her job and couldn’t afford to pay the insurance premium. He added that she needed her car because she lived on the outskirts of Carlow town and requested the judge not to put her off the road. Judge Carthy accepted the submission but did fine Ms Ceglowska €300.
