Two women charged with robbery of man

Both charged with robbing a person at Ferrybank Apartments, Carlow

TWO women were served with books of evidence last week at Carlow District Court in connection with the robbery of a man and were ordered to appeared before the next sitting of the local circuit court later this month.

Rhiannan Keating, who is in custody at the Dorchas Centre in Mountjoy Prison, Dublin 7 and a co-accused, Geeta O’Neill (41) of Burrin Street, Carlow, were both charged with robbing a person at Ferrybank Apartments, Carlow on 27 April 2025. Ms Keating (38) also faced a charge of producing a knife during the same incident.

Both women were sent forward to the next sitting of Carlow Circuit Court on 15 July and were given an alibi warning by Judge Cephas Power, meaning that they will have to inform the gardaí if they are going to rely on an alibi for their defence.

Ms Keating was served a second book of evidence in relation to a separate, unrelated incident that occurred the day after the robbery. That book of evidence has three counts of burglary, arising from an incident that occurred at Café 500, Kennedy Street, Carlow between 28-29 April this year.

Judge Power granted legal aid to solicitor Joe Farrell and extended it to cover a junior counsel for each of the defendants when they appear at the upcoming circuit court.
