Stole alcohol from Tesco, Carlow

A ROMANIAN national was convicted and fined at Carlow District Court for shoplifting at Tesco in Fairgreen Shopping Centre.
Elana Flores pleaded guilty to one count of theft arising from an incident on 17 July 2025 when gardaí received a report of a shoplifter being detained at Tesco in Fairgreen Shopping Centre, Carlow.
Ms Flores (27) had been seen going into the off-licence, selecting six bottles of alcohol and placing those bottles into a backpack before attempting to leave the shop.
The prosecuting sergeant said that Ms Flores of Emmet Crescent, Inchicore, Dublin had no previous convictions.
Tertius van Eeden said that Ms Flores has been living in Ireland for ten years and was the mother of five children, the youngest of whom was six months old.
He said she asked him to apologise to the court for her and he asked that the conviction be taken into consideration.
Judge Geraldine Carthy convicted and fined Ms Flores €200.
