A MAN who exposed himself and masturbated on a Carlow street while intoxicated has been directed to engage with the probation services. Konrad Wrzodek of Clayton Hall, Staplestown Rd, Carlow pleaded guilty to the offence at Carlow District Court last week.
The court heard that on 10 May 2025, gardaí received a report of a male exposing himself and masturbating at Staplestown Road, Carlow. A male and female passing by in a vehicle observed the defendant, and video evidence of the incident was taken.
Garda Kenny gave evidence that the 33-year-old was “standing on the footpath facing the road. His pants were undone and pulled down to his thighs, exposing his penis”.
The defendant was found to be intoxicated and was arrested at the scene before being brought to Carlow Garda Station.
The court heard that the defendant had four previous convictions, including two section 4 public order offences for threatening or abusive language or behaviour in public.
Solicitor Joe Farrell said: “It’s a disturbing matter,” adding: “we have a letter showing that he looked for some assistance in respect of a depressive episode around that time.” “He is in receipt of social welfare and is not in a position to work due to his mental health,” the solicitor added.
Mr Farrell said that “gardaí have been quite fair”, but asked the court to direct a probation report. “I know he is engaging with probation services in Athy for a different case that is not connected,” he said.
The solicitor felt the report would “get reassurance that he’s not a threat”.
Judge Geraldine Carthy directed that the probation report be ready for May 2026.
