Driver spared disqualification

Driver spared disqualification

Driving without insurance or a driver’s licence

A CARLOW motorist was last week spared a disqualification from driving after he pleaded guilty at the local district court to driving without insurance.

Eddie Lyons, 61 Beechwood Park, Pollerton, Carlow pleaded guilty to driving without insurance or a driver’s licence after he was stopped by gardaí at Chapelstown, Carlow on 1 May this year.

Solicitor Joe Farrell said that Mr Lyons (26) didn’t usually drive as he uses a bicycle, that he has certain “challenges” and had the support of his mother. Judge Cephas Power said that because the defendant had no previous convictions and because of the mitigating circumstances, he would spare him a disqualification from driving but he did fine him €450.
