Driver fined €250 for dangerous parking on N81 near Carlow
A CAR parked on the N81 road, blocking traffic, was the scene that Garda O’Hanlon came upon while on patrol near Carlow on the night of 28 August 2025, Carlow District Court heard. Patrick Connors, aged 20, was before the court charged with dangerous parking.
The court heard that at 9.55pm on 28 August 2025, the garda observed a car parked in a dangerous manner on the N81 near Carlow, blocking the road and forcing other vehicles to stop. He spoke to the driver and a fixed-charge notice was later issued but went unpaid.
“Was any explanation given for parking on the N81?” asked Judge Carthy, clearly perplexed by the defendant’s behaviour. None had been given.
The court heard that Mr Connors, of Glassganny, Castlebridge,Wexford, had two previous convictions, both for road traffic offences, the most recent at Wexford District Court in June 2024 for failure to wear a seatbelt and driving unaccompanied as a learner driver.
Judge Carthy convicted Mr Connors and fined him €250, to be paid within 90 days.
