CARLOW town barber Ann-Marie Lawler brought her art to the Lord Bagenal Hotel in Leighlinbridge on 18 October.

Ann-Marie, who paints under the surname Roche, exhibited 15 large paintings and a handful of smaller pieces.

All the art featured was very personal to Ann-Marie, with each painting representing a different time in her life. The showcase was aptly titled  Chapters.

Hundreds of art lovers from near and far attended throughout the day and she was blown away by their kindness. She was very proud that many of her paintings sold, even before she had arrived.

“It’s amazing, it’s your gift on their wall,” she said.

Along with her paintings, Ann-Marie sold tote bags and cushion covers featuring her artwork. These were snapped up and Ann-Marie recalls running out before the day had ended.

“Everyone can have a chapter under their arm,” she said.

This was her second exhibition and her first, held at the ArtBank Gallery, Bunclody, last year was also a huge success.

Ann-Marie would like to thank the Lord Bagenal Hotel, particularly James Kehoe and Karen Haughey for their hospitality.
