A MOTORIST has been fined €200 in Carlow District Court for speeding on the N80 at Graiguenaspiddoge, Carlow.
Jack Ryan of Sonas, Coolroe, Ardattin, Carlow was not present at Carlow District Court when his case was heard, with his solicitor Joe Farrell entering a plea in his absence.
The court heard that on 4 June 2025, Mr Ryan’s vehicle was detected by a fixed speed camera travelling at 114km per hour in a 100km per hour zone. A fixed charge notice was issued to the registered owner of the vehicle but was not paid.
In mitigation, Mr Farrell said he has been contacted by others in recent weeks in relation to alleged issues with the speed camera on this section of the N80. He noted that his client could not be present due to work commitments.
Judge Geraldine Carthy convicted Mr Ryan of the speeding offence and fined him €200 with 90 days to pay. It was also noted he would be subject to penalty points on his licence.
