Carlow man fined €200 for drunken stumbling on road on Halloween night

A MAN who was found intoxicated and stumbling on a road in Carlow town in the early hours of Halloween was fined €200 at Carlow District Court. Myles Doran, aged 37, of Friars Green, Tullow, Carlow was before Judge Geraldine Carthy charged with an offence contrary to section 4 of the Public Order Act.

The court heard that on 31 October at 12.26am, a report was received of a male walking on the road in Carlow town.

Mr Doran was stumbling along and unsteady on his feet. He was intoxicated to the point of slurred speech.

The defendant was arrested for his own safety and was later charged. Solicitor Chris Hogan represented the defendant.

Judge Carthy convicted Mr Doran and imposed a fine of €200, with 90 days to pay.
