A MAN charged with the trafficking of €1.25m worth of drugs in Athy last summer will learn his trial date in March.

Cody Dooley (21) of Rochfort Manor, Graiguecullen, Co Carlow appeared at the last sitting of Naas District Court for January to be charged under Section 15a of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Detective Eamon Tighe told the court Mr Dooley had been arrested that morning to be formally charged with the offence, alleged to have occurred at Foxhill, Athy on 27 June.

Mr Dooley had already been charged with the lesser possession charge and sale/supply. It is alleged that Mr Dooley and an unnamed accomplice were observed by gardaí moving eight boxes from a van to a shed rented by Mr Dooley, where gardaí discovered 62.5kg of cannabis and a small amount of amphetamines. 

At his initial arraignment on 29 June he was deemed a flight risk and remanded in custody. He was later granted bail in the High Court. He will next appear in court on 6 March for a book of evidence.
