The defendant had denied being the driver

Judge O’Leary noted the defendant’s previous convictions for theft and said he had received “lots of warnings” in relation to this behaviour

“Drugs are a scourge on the nation.”

It is alleged that on the day in question, that the defendant and an unnamed accomplice were observed by gardaí moving eight boxes from a van to a shed

The judge was incredulous

The accused has been only in the country for eight weeks before the accident
