Catherine Madden

CASTLEDERMOT’S Catherine Madden had been appointed managing director of the Dublin Gazette newspaper. Founder and CEO of the Dublin Gazette Michael McGovern officially retired, marking the end of his own remarkable career.

The company’s future leadership is now in the capable hands of Catherine Madden, who brings nearly 30 years of experience in the media industry, having held senior roles in Buy and Sell, Independent News and Media, and Hot Press. During her time with Hot Press from 2016 to 2023, Catherine headed many different projects, including partnering with Kildare County Council on the Brigid Festival.

She joined the Dublin Gazette in April 2024 with a goal of transitioning into leadership. Her understanding of the media landscape and strong connections within the industry position her perfectly to lead the publication into its next chapter.

Speaking to Catherine about her new role and goals for the future, she told The Nationalist: “It’s been so well received, both by clients, the advertising agencies and PR agencies. It’s been great and the team are delighted. The biggest kind of change that I want to make is to make the website more engaging and to try and increase our social media following.

“It’s an honour to take on this role and continue Michael’s legacy. The Dublin Gazette is more than a newspaper; it’s a cornerstone of the community. I’m excited to explore new opportunities in the digital space while staying true to the values that have made this publication special.”
