PEOPLE in Carlow whose properties were damaged as a result of Storm Chandra and are unable to cover the losses themselves can start applying for support through the Emergency Response Payment, the Department of Social Protection has announced.
The payment, which was previously the Humanitarian Assistance Scheme, provides income-tested financial support to people whose homes have been damaged by flooding or severe weather conditions and are unable to meet emergency costs for essential needs, household items and structural repair.
The payment is available as a support for households which experience unanticipated and exceptional costs in the immediate aftermath of a severe weather event and is currently open to people in counties Carlow, Wexford, Wicklow, Dublin and Kilkenny.
Levels of payment under the scheme depend on the severity of damage experienced and also on a household’s ability to pay from their own resources.
Homeowners in Carlow should contact the community welfare service on 0818 60 70 80.
