Carlow businesses get expert help to tackle rising costs at free seminar

Business strategist and author Blaise Brosnan will be speaking at the event.
LOCAL enterprises struggling with mounting operational expenses will have access to expert financial guidance at a dedicated business seminar next week, as Carlow County Council and training partners respond to widespread cost pressures affecting the local business community.
The “How to Navigate the Cost of Doing Business?” seminar takes place on Tuesday, 24 June from 10am to 12pm at the Seven Oaks Hotel, targeting business owners and managers seeking practical solutions to current economic challenges.
Rising inflation, supply chain disruptions, and increased energy and financing costs are squeezing profit margins across all business sectors, prompting local authorities to offer targeted support to help enterprises maintain viability and plan for growth.
“Supporting our business community is a top priority for Carlow County Council,” said cllr Ken Murnane, cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council. “We understand the pressure that rising costs are placing on local enterprises, and this seminar is an important step in helping business leaders take control, adapt, and grow.”
The event features two specialist sessions designed to provide immediately applicable business strategies. Billy Sweetman, partner at PwC South East Practice, will lead “Financial Frameworks for Business Success,” drawing on over 30 years of experience in financial planning and business advisory services.
Business strategist and author Blaise Brosnan will deliver the second session, “Controlling the Limiting Factors in Your Business,” focusing on identifying and addressing both internal and external constraints that impact business performance.
Kieran Comerford, head of economic development & enterprise for Carlow County Council, emphasised the practical nature of the support being offered. “In times of economic pressure, businesses need more than just encouragement – they need clear, actionable insights and trusted advice,” he said. “Whether you're navigating immediate cost challenges or planning ahead for growth, this event is designed to give you tools you can apply straight away.”
“This seminar is about bringing the right people into the room to share knowledge that makes a difference,” he added.
The seminar is jointly hosted by Carlow Kilkenny Skillnet and Carlow County Council’s Local Enterprise Office, reflecting ongoing efforts to provide comprehensive business support services to the local enterprise community.
Business owners and financial decision-makers can register for the free event by visiting the Local Enterprise Office Carlow website or contacting enterprise@carlowcoco.ie.
The initiative comes as businesses nationwide continue to adapt to challenging economic conditions that have persisted throughout 2025, with many seeking expert guidance on financial planning and operational efficiency to maintain competitiveness.
