BLUEBIRD Care has created 50 new jobs across Carlow and Kilkenny as part of a nationwide recruitment drive.

The company is looking for care experts, nurses, care assistants, supervisors and operational support staff in Carlow and Kilkenny to support older people and children and adults with disabilities to live safely and independently in their own homes.

Managing director of the local Bluebird Care business, Brian Egan, said the vacancies are due to high demand for homecare in the area.

The number of people aged 65 and over is expected to exceed one million by 2030 and rise to 1.6 million by 2051, according to the Central Statistics Office. An ESRI report predicts that home support hours will grow 57% to 91% by 2040.

Vacancies are open for an immediate start in both counties. The company says it offers structured training, ongoing career development opportunities and competitive pay rates. It covers mileage and the time spent travelling between customers. It also pays an annual bonus to all staff, based on hours worked.
