Art event is a dream come true for Eoin

For illustration purposes only
SKATEBOARDS, bicycles, buggies, wheelchairs – as long as it has wheels, it’s eligible to take part in a unique art event that’s coming up soon.
Eoin O’Malley, a service user in the Kare Lalor Centre, Baltinglass, has been creating art for years and has exhibited his work in many exhibitions.
He was inspired to use his wheelchair as a way of creating art by painting directly onto the wheels and then moving the wheelchair across a canvas. Eoin experimented with this unusual way of painting onto a canvas and, with the help of his assistants in the Lalor Centre, applied for funding to back a public event.
Eoin’s dream came through when he received funding from the Creative Places Baltinglass fund.
Eoin is inviting people to come and join him in making large-scale floor paintings using all kinds of wheels. Skateboards, bikes, rollators, buggies, skates, mobility scooters and even motorbikes can all be used to make their individual marks. Through finding the common denominator of wheels, Eoin has created an opportunity for everyone to come together and take part in a creative activity that reaches out across all ages and abilities and into every corner of the community.
The event, called Tracks, is taking place on 28 July in the Lalor Centre, Baltinglass from 1.30 to 5pm.
All are welcome to come and enjoy the event, where there will be live music, face painting and refreshments. Free tickets for wheel-painting places need to be booked in advance.
