All-Ireland winners honoured

Cathoirleach of Carlow County Council cllr Fergal Browne made a presentation to Carlow Camogie All-Ireland U16B Champions at a recent event in the council offices

PRESENTATIONS were made to team members of the Carlow camogie All-Ireland under-16 B champions by cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council cllr Fergal Browne.

The players and their families were invited into the chamber, where they received their presentation to a huge welcome.

The players included Aine Doyle, Aimee Doyle, Alice Dalton, Ava O’Dwyer, Caoimhe Dempsey, Eadaoin Doogue Dempsey, Eva Dooley, Kate Burke, Ailbhe Steger, Aine McCullagh, Ailie McDonagh, Amy Farrell, Colette O’Brien, Eimear O’Toole, Grainne Grennan, Isabel Foley, Kayla Holden, Katelyn Sheppard, May Breen Parle, Paige Challoner, Rachel Kennedy, Sarah Murphy, Siobhan Sinnott and Summer Doorley.

The teams involved were Carlow Town, Ballinkillen, Setanta, Mount Leinster Rangers, Kildavin/Clonegal, St Mullins, Naomh Bríd, Mount Leinster Rangers, Burren Rangers and Muine Bheag.

Their proud mentors were Agnes Doogue, Anthony O’Brien, Caitriona Grennan, Davy Brennan, John Joe Barrett and Tina Minogue.

A presentation was also made to those who won in the Community Games during the summer. 

The winners included Adnan Bouanba Nichistroi, Ben Nolan, William Myers, Éanna Dunican, Caden Byrne, Noah Byrne, Naoise Byrne, Patrick Cranny, Michael Breen, Quinn Morrissey, Mia Keating, Ben O’Neill, John Keenan, Nuadha Stynes, Eddie Keenan, Páidí Breen, Arsene Kalninsh, Danny Donegan, Créd Stynes, Wren Stynes, Eli Morrissey, Evan Wall and Oliver McDonald. 

They took part in sports, including hurdles, sprinting, cycling, model making and solo music.

The cathaoirleach paid tribute to the efforts of everyone involved as it was “a great achievement”, and “I want to acknowledge that today”.

He continued: “My fellow councillors were very keen to have an event to recognise your achievement in winning an All-Ireland. We are delighted to be here in the chamber, to say well done to your families, to say well done to your parents, for helping out with all of the coaching events. Well done to all your coaches and mentors as well for all the hours that go in, in preparing for the events, and finally to yourselves for succeeding at the very top level in your own field, which is a great achievement.” 

The players received goodie bags also from the council.
