Vanessa Whyte, 45, her son James, 14, and daughter Sara, 13, died following a shooting incident at a house in Maguiresbridge on Wednesday morning.

A book of condolence was opened at Maguiresbridge Primary School.

Police said the incident happened in the Drummeer Road area of Maguiresbridge, and that officers were at the scene which had been cordoned off.

The shooting took place within the Drummeer Road area of Maguiresbridge.

Damage was caused to the outside wall of the building, and several shotgun casings were recovered.

BREAKING: According to the Emergency Times website, shots have reportedly been fired in Fairgreen Shopping Centre, Carlow town. It adds that the Fairgreen has been evacuated, as has the surrounding area.

Police are investigating the brutal assassination as a drug-related gang shooting but have yet to make any arrests.

Diplomatic sources said two Irish diplomats were part of the delegation to the West Bank city of Jenin.

A man was taken to St James's Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
