THE SKILL, expertise and bond between man and dog was a joy to behold at a recent sheepdog trials held in Co Carlow.

The ‘3 Province Nursery Final’ took place against the picturesque backdrop of Mount Leinster on the land of well-known sheep farmer Tomas McCarthy at Raheenkyle, Borris.

Tomas also provided the sheep for the event, which put sheepdogs from around the province to the test. The months of preparation paid off with many dogs and their owners putting in great performances as they worked through the various tasks assigned.
T

he event also welcomed a number of spectators from all over Ireland who thoroughly enjoyed watching these clever dogs at work.

Organisers would like to thank Tomas for the use of his land and the sheep and to Kenneth Cummins for all the help in organising such a well-run day. They also would like to thank the judges, who had the difficult task of choosing the winners, and everyone who helped to make the day such a success, including sponsors Redmills, Logan Whistles and Philmac. They also wish to thank Lar Sutton for filming the A class, which will be available to view shortly.
