BBC Radio 1 host Greg James has revealed he and his wife Bella had a secret dinner with TV presenter Graham Norton and his husband Jono ahead of Taylor Swift’s wedding.
Norton and James were both invited to the pop superstar’s wedding to NFL player Travis Kelce last Friday at New York’s Madison Square Garden, and James has revealed they had a meal beforehand so that they could meet each other’s partners, who were also on the guest list.
Speaking on his BBC Radio 1 breakfast show, James said: “There was an episode of This Morning where, weirdly, I’d been booked on the same day as Graham Norton.
“So, Graham Norton was the only other person in the UK who was publicly invited to the wedding back in October when Taylor Swift was doing the interviews, so she invited me, and she invited Graham Norton.

“Me and Graham Norton hadn’t spoken about this until that day, on This Morning, (James then played a clip from the interview) so that was Graham absolutely throwing me under the bus, because he had already been invited as well by that point, so he was lying.
“So what happened is after we’d just done our bit on This Morning, I saw him in the dressing-room, and I went in there, and after his team had gone, I said, ‘we should have a chat, shouldn’t we?’, and he went, ‘yes, we absolutely should have a chat’.
“So then, here’s some good tea for you… we then arranged to go for dinner, because he’d never met my wife, Bella, and I’d never met his husband, Jono, so then we arranged to go and have a secret under the cover of darkness dinner, and it was like The Traitors meeting in the tower.
“We were going to go and have dinner in a restaurant, and then he messaged to say, ‘maybe let’s not do a restaurant, why don’t you come around mine?’, so we went for a secret dinner around his actual house to talk about it.”

The 40-year-old went on to say he stole two doilies from the chairs at the wedding, danced on stage following an invite to all guests and that he spoke to Kelce and Swift during the event, who he said were both “very busy”.
He added: “I went and found her, I went and found him, had a little chat.
“I just said, you know, what you say to the bride and groom, I said what a great thing, great, loved it, thanks so much for the invitation.
“I actually did say to her, ‘do you know how difficult it’s been to keep this a secret, doing a radio show every day?’, so I did say that to her, and they were just having a great time, and they both looked amazing.”
James went on to say that there was no sitdown dinner at the event and added that “a lot of the Brits did sort of congregate for a bit, and then everyone went off and did their own thing”, saying that he met Hugh Grant and his wife at the wedding.

He said there were multiple wedding cakes on offer and joked “the first 10,000 drinks were free”.
He also appeared to confirm that guests used the same Madison Square Garden arena toilets that spectators at sporting events would use.
The radio DJ said: “The venue looked beautiful, and it was all decked out as a wedding venue, but you know, arena toilets are arena toilets, so just toilets, you know.”
James also confirmed Swift’s cats were not present at the wedding and said he wore a tuxedo he had previously worn for a funeral for a large duck called Longboi, which used to regularly feature on his radio show, while his wife wore a red dress.
The wedding was said to have featured about 1,000 guests and was officiated by Adam Sandler, while a billboard outside the venue read “JUST&T MARRIED” after the ceremony took place.
Other guests were said to include Ed Sheeran, Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper.
The couple’s romance began in 2023 after Kelce publicly announced on his podcast that he was interested in Swift, which she later said was a “wild, romantic gesture”.
In October 2025, Swift made her first TV appearance on Norton’s BBC talk show since her engagement in August last year, where she jokingly told the host she was planning on inviting “anyone I’ve ever talked to” to her wedding.
