Adeleye double sparks comeback as Fagan fires late winner for CK United
Timmy Adeleye inspired a CK United comeback with his second and third goals of the season.
Former Hanover youngster, Timmy Adeleye was the heart of a CK United comeback on Saturday evening as they extended their winning run in Tier 2 to two wins in as many matches so far.
A brace from 16-year-old sparked a comeback from 2-0 down, taking his tally to three goals in two weeks. Eoin Johnson’s side now sit pretty at the top of the Tier 2 South table, tied with Waterford on six points from six.
CK struggled in the first half and lacked a cutting edge in attack, whilst defensively they looked shaky. To be fair, chances in the first half were at a premium for both sides. The two teams closed each other down for large periods and never let the other settle.
CK were very lacklustre, finding it difficult to break their opponents down and create any chances. Defensively, as well, they were poor, and that told in the goals that they conceded.

The first real chance came after seven minutes when a Shayne Stack free from the edge of the box hit off the wall and it was saved by Darragh O’Neill in the goal at the near post.
Kerry took the lead early in the first half after Colin Healy was played through on goal by the skipper Oran Horgan and he drifted down the right and fired a ball into the bottom left hand corner.
Just after the half hour mark, a Callum McCormack free from the left wasn’t properly cleared by CK United and it was left to Davidson Amechi at the back post who had a free header to head home and double the Kerry lead.
With four minutes to go until half-time, a Healy cross from the right was cleared by the CK defence into the path of Amechi whose effort was saved. The visitors, nevertheless, held a comfortable 2-0 lead at half time.
Kerry started where they left off after the break as a Stack free from the right was hit wide on the far side.
CK started to get into the game then and threatened from a Eoin Magee free from the edge of the box which was palmed over the bar.

The hosts got back into the game four minutes into the second half when they won a penalty after a Kerry player handled the ball on the line. Up stepped Adeleye; his effort towards the bottom left hand corner was saved, but he knocked in the rebound from the left to open CK’s account.
Adeleye had an effort saved a minute later before Magee fired an effort wide on the left. A cross from the right was sent in to the back post where Adeleye just missed it.
Kerry went close through an Amechi free which was sent in to the right where it was met by a Kerry head and headed goalwards but Darragh O’Neill in the CK goal caught it and held onto it under pressure.
CK levelled the game in spectacular fashion as Adeleye curled a free from the left into the top right hand corner to leave the CK bench speechless.
In stoppage time, a scramble in the box saw Kayne Kenna Herbert put the ball into the path of Ryan Fagan who bundled it into the back of the net to send CK into euphoria as they rescued a late win.
