John 'Shark' Hanlon has had his ten month suspension reduced to six months by the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board after the result of his appeal was announced today.

The Bagenalstown based trainer was given the original punishment relating to an incident involving the transportation of a dead horse last June.

“I think we got a very, very fair hearing," said Hanlon at the time of the appeal being heard earlier this month.

There is the possibility that the ban, which is due to start on 1 December, could be reduced to be reduced to three months if Hanlon meets certain criteria.

On Tuesday in Doncaster, Hanlon held a dispersal sale where he sold 15 of the horses from his yard due to the upcoming suspension.
