Incredible hard work by Tullow members rewarded with priceless win

Tullow club members show their fruits of their hard work
As the snow accumulated at the Blackgates venue during the week, there was a huge doubt about whether the games would go ahead on the Saturday. The cry went out to members to come out to the club and clear the snow off the main pitch. The call was answered and by Thursday evening, there was never any doubt that the game was not going to be played.

That hard work was rewarded on Saturday afternoon when Tullow came away with a priceless 13-5 win over Suttonians, in what could be a crucial victory in the battle to avoid relegation from Leinster League Division 1A.
Adam Burgess, the Tullow full-back maintained that the positive action of club members did more for the team than any training session would have done this week. There is a huge bond in the club but now it was further cemented.
“We cleared the pitch. All of us. That is what Tullow is. There were people who I have never seen before out here. That was great. That really drove us on. It brought us back together,” said the young man who won a senior championship medal with Rathvilly last season and was on a bus to Clare the following day with the Carlow under 20 footballers.

He knew exactly what the win meant for Tullow. Even more so as they have a local derby to contend with next Saturday in what will be a pivotal game in the battle to avoid the drop.
“It is huge. To get over the line today sets us up well for next week,” he said.
“We knew they would come back at us. There was pressure in the end but we got away with it. We knew what we had to do.”
Unfortunately, the club's womens team weren't able to make it a double when also played late on Saturday when they went down to a strong Old Belvedere side by 45-5 in the Womens AIL.
