Rhasidat Adeleke pulled out of 400m event in Belgium as European Championships deadline looms

Rhasidat Adeleke is running out of chances to secure her place at next month's European Championships.

The 23-year-old pulled out of the 400 metres at the KBC Night of Athletics in Belgium, having also missed the 200 metres qualifying standard in Lucerne.

The deadline for Birmingham is next Sunday, with the National Championships in Dublin potentially her final opportunity to qualify.

Adeleke has struggled for form since returning to action, finishing last in her comeback 400 metres in Eugene earlier this month.

Meanwhile, at the London Diamond League, Mark English ran the fastest 800m of his life, the 33-year-old clocking 1:42.97 after another storming finish down the homestretch.

Sarah Healy ran a lifetime best of 8:25.63 in the 3,000m to finish third, Australia’s Jessica Hull winning in 8:24.69.
