Fairyhouse’s Christmas Party raceday takes place on Saturday, with eight high-class races to warm those in attendance.
The meeting provides a key chance for the likes of Willie Mullins to tune up ahead of the Leopardstown Christmas Festival later this month. Here is a preview of the action, with odds courtesy of BoyleSports, who offer the latest Leopardstown Christmas Festival odds.
11:30 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase The opening race of the day will see 2024 Triumph Hurdle winner Majborough take a first run over fences, with many believing that he could be a Cheltenham Gold Cup horse in the future.
Meanwhile, stablemate Tullyhill is two years older and a more experienced campaigner, albeit one who is also making a debut over fences.
12:00 McInerney Properties Rated Novice Chase Next up, a 2m 5f chase will see nine runners taking to the turf, with Henry De Bromhead’s Native Speaker a leading contender having won on debut over fences here 32 days ago.
12:30 Sign Up To GavinLynchRacing.com 3-Y-O Maiden Hurdle The third race of the day features a large field of 17 runners, with former Flat winner Beyond Your Dreams in the mix having made a promising start to his hurdling career. The main challenger is expected to be the improving Slurricane.
13:02 Tote Always SP Or Better At Fairyhouse Novice Handicap Hurdle (80-109) In the fourth race, switching to hurdles from the Flat is Arch Enemy who should be considered having gone well on her most recent last hurdles trip. Another who could have more to offer is Oakley, who finished second in a handicap at Thurles recently.
13:37 Lacey's Plumbing & Heating Supplies Maiden Hurdle Having finished fifth in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham earlier this year, Fishery Lane is a good prospect for the Mullins team, making a debut over hurdles. However, Melbourne Shamrock could be the pick stepping up in trip.
14:12 Fairyhouse, Racecourse Of The Year 2024 Handicap Hurdle (80-102) (Div 1) For the sixth race, Jouster is another switching to hurdles and with cheekpieces added is a key player in this contest. One to also keep an eye on is Letters To Juliet, who should be a threat if recovered from a strong run at Gowran 35 days ago.
14:47 Fairyhouse, Racecourse Of The Year 2024 Handicap Hurdle (80-102) (Div 2) For the penultimate race, Slim Marvel is a hurdles winner, with success at Kilbeggan in July, and is not one to be taken lightly for this 2m 4f race.
15:22 Irish Stallion Farms EBF 4-Y-O Fillies Flat Race In the final race, the aptly named Future Prospect is a £150,000 four-year-old who is a half sister to three winners. If she can find consistency under the guidance of Willie Mullins then she will be one to watch for the future.
