Closutton master handler Willie Mullins is continuing his adventures on the Flat and has two runners left in at the latest declaration stage for the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle this weekend.
Mullins had two winners at Royal Ascot last week and could be doubly-represented at Gosforth Park by Pappano and Too Bossy For Us at Newcastle.
Pappano was last seen being pulled up in the Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, a race which was won by Mullins with 100/1 shot Poniros. This would be just Pappano's second run for Mullins if he turns up at Newcastle, having switched from the powerful John and Thady Gosden yard in January this year, a previous winner on the all-weather.
Too Bossy For Us meanwhile could have his third run for the Closutton team if he pitches up in the Plate. The four-year-old was also a runner in the Triumph Hurdle, finishing seventh in that race and was last seen at the Punchestown Festival back in May, finishing fifth behind British raider Lulamba in the Ballymore Champion Hurdle.
Both of Mullins' chances are priced up at 7/1 with bookmaker BoyleSports to land the spoils this weekebnd, join-second favourites behind the Andrew Balding-trained Who's Glen at the top of the market.
