St Mullins 3-16 Burren Rangers 4-9 AET

It took extra time to decide this under 14 Hurling 1B final at Netwatch Cullen Park on Sunday where both sides produced a superb and exciting game.

While they trailed early on, Burren Rangers scored three goals in the first half through Will O’Toole and Padraig Agar while St Mullins had a three-pointer from Dylan King. Rangers led 3-2 to 1-5 at the break.

Early in the second half they looked to have taken a decisive advantage when points from O’Toole helped push Burren seven points clear. St Mullins dug deep and goals from Jack Ryan and King levelled once more. Both sides created late chances but they finished level at 3-8 each when the full-time whistle sounded.

If there was intense excitement at the end of normal time then it was ramped up in the first period of extra time when St Mullins went four points clear. Burren hit back with a Glen Cantwell goal to leave Mullins narrowly ahead by 3-13 to 4-9 at the change of ends in extra time.

Three points in the last ten minutes clinched victory for the South Carlow side as King, Bobby Fluskey and Oisin Fogarty to give St Mullins a wonderful victory against great opponents.
