Old Leighlin complete SFC semi-final line up

This was all far too easy for Old Leighlin who blitzed last year’s intermediate champions in this senior football championship quarter-final in Netwatch Cullen Park on Sunday.
James Dowling and Cathal Coughlan scored 1-4 to 1-2 respectively in the opening half with Fenagh only threatening occasionally. Their only point came from Ian Craddock in the 27th minute when he bisected the Old Leighlin posts from play. At the interval, the winners were 2-15 to 0-1 ahead.
Before a minute had been played in the second half, Darragh Fitzgerald breached the Fenagh cover and had the ball in the net. It was the worst possible start the beleaguered side could have had. They still didn’t throw in towel.
Padraig Hynes scored two two-pointers and Keagan Bradley picked up a loose ball to fire to the Old Leighlin net. It was crumbs only but at least it took the bare look off the scoreboard.
As the game came to its inevitable conclusion, with all eyes on their semi-final clash with Palatine next week, Old Leighlin look to have avoided injuries.
